The Exterior is a wildly challenging and difficult region and is intended to be one of the last regions in the game. featuring both scenic views and deadly enemies. The Exterior is an extremely hard region, with platforming mechanics that will push the player to their limits. Divided into 3 subregions, The Wall, The Underhang, and The Leg, this is one of the most intense regions in the game.

The Wall[]

The easiest of the three subregions, The wall is a straight vertical climb consisting of outcroppings protruding from the massive wall that gives this subregion it's name. At the top of The Wall lies an Echo and the topmost entrance to Five Pebbles, while at the bottom lies the entrance to the next subregion, The Underhang, and at the center a gate to Chimney Canopy.
The Underhang[]
The middle child of the Exterior's three subregions, the Underhang is nevertheless a dangerous place. Made up completely of platforms suspended above an abyss, one false move will send the slugcat to their death. Because of this it is recommended to bring a Grapplegrub along. Unlike the bright and sunny Wall, the Underhang is very dark (which allows the White Lizards that dwell there to be harder to see) and is showered in harmless green sparks from the emissions of the Five Pebbles supercomplex. The Underhang is used both as a transition zone between the two neighboring subregions The Leg and The Wall as well as the most accessible way into Five Pebbles.
The Leg[]

Named because of it´s role of a support beam for the Five Pebbles supercomputer,Generally accepted as the hardest subregion of the Exterior, the Leg is quite similar to the wall in that it is a vertical climb, but is different in that it shares the green sparks and unnatural darkness of the Underhang. Despite it being heavily infested with the formidable Daddy Longlegs, the biggest threat of the Leg is the risk of falling, as most of the area is a vertical climb with few ways to traverse it without the extremely useful Grapplegrubs. At the bottom of the Leg lies a gate to the Shaded Citadel's subregion Memory Crypts, and at the summit is one of the ways into the slightly less challenging Underhang.
