It's a grim forecast, but indeed; I'm totally in agreement with your assessment, that the unit has gone bad. There's no trade-in program, which likely means low interest in recalling or examining devices that suddenly die (for whatever reason, be it a faulty forced auto-bios update or Sudden Ooma Death Syndrome).
